How to use:

You should pre-soak the media for at least 24 hours to prime the pellets, rinsing them first to wash the dust off, and allowing them to soak until they are completely saturated. At this step I add DynaGro K-L-N (which is a rooting hormone)to the soak.

To prep the plant for re-pot, set you self up over a plastic trash bag so you can contain the mess, and gently turn you pot upside down while holding on to the plant itself. If the roots haven't attached themselves to the pot, everything should just fall out, if not give it some gentle coaxing.

Once you have your plant out of the pot, remove as much of the old bark or moss as possible. Now that you have removed all of the old media, you should clean up the root system.

Healthy roots should have a bright white absorbent outer covering called velamen progressing behind nice green root tips. They can be purple in color at times too but usually only on the aerial roots.  Commonly found on Phalaenopsis.

Take special care not to break your root tips, as they are especially vulnerable to damage. Cut off any old brown dead or dying roots, on these the velamen will be leathery and will pull right off the root itself. You are trying to get all the decaying material off your root system.

Add enough media to the pot to cover the drain holes.  This will prevent the roots from being potted down into the reservoir where they would smother and rapidly decompose.

Holding the plant centered in the pot, gently add the more media, shaking the pot a bit as you go to help get the pellets down and seated and around the roots.

You want to have the plant potted up to where the newest roots are emerging.

Now just give your plant a good watering filling up the pot and letting the water flow out of the leveling holes.  The pot will keep the water it needs.

Don't fertilize it until you see new established root growth, usually within a month.  If you foliar feed, I would wait a few weeks to let the plant acclimate a bit and then go for it.
